FAQ For Club

Q: How can I join the Club?

A: If you graduated from Washington High School more than fifty years ago you are automatically a member of the FiftyPlus Club.

Q: How many members are in the FiftyPlus Club?

A: Our membership grows each year one of our graduating classes celebrates their fiftieth year reunion. Currently there are over 3,000 members of the FiftyPlus Club and by 2029 over 6000 graduates of Washington High School are or were members of the FiftyPlus Club. Currently we have about 2000 "Active" members of the FiftyPlus Club.

Q: What is the difference between being an "Active Member" and an "Inactive Member" of the FiftyPlus Club?

A: Active members receive mailings and invitations to our annual luncheons. Inactive members receive no mailings. Persons who are in classes that recently celebrated their fiftieth year class reunion will receive mailings and invitations for five years if their class representative furnishes us with names and addresses to enter into our club database.

Q: How can I become an "Active Member" of the FiftyPlus Club? And why is it important?

A: To become an Active Member all you have to do is attend one of our Luncheon events at least once every five years. That is important because only "Active Members" receive mailings and invitations.

Q: Are there any dues or costs to be a member of the FiftyPlus Club?

A: There are no dues to be a member of the FiftyPlus Club. Your only cost to be an Active Member is the ticket price for the Reunion Luncheon at the Prom.

Q: I would like to get in contact with another person who went to Washington High School. Can you give me their address, phone number or email?

A: No. Our policy is not to give out information from our database. It may be possible for us to put you in contact with your class representative who could possibly help you.

Q: Who manages the FiftyPlus Club?

A: The FiftyPlus Club operates under the Clubs official Bylaws. A Board of Directors manages the FiftyPlus Club following these Bylaws. The Board of Directors consists of approximately seven members, made up of the Club President, Club Treasurer/Secretary, Database Manager and several other members serving official terms of office. In addition, each graduating class is encouraged to provide two members to represent their class at specified General Representative meetings. During the year the FiftyPlus Club has five specified General Representative meetings. At these meetings information, evaluations and suggestions are shared. These meetings are designed to help make the annual reunion luncheons successful and are held the 1st Monday of the month in April, June and October.

The annual reunion is held at Jimmy's Event Center in Vadnais Heights. It is typically held on the first Saturday after Labor Day each year. Attendance has been approximately 600 classmates and guests.

At the reunion, the class celebrating their 50th on the year of the reunion, is the "Guest Class", and have minimal duties.

The preceding year's Guest Class is the current year's Host Class. Along with the President and the Board of Directors, the Host Class has some organizational and coordination responsibilities in order to make the reunion happen.

The President and the Board of Directors are responsible for Prom Center scheduling and contracts, invitations, attendees sign up and check in, seating and meal arrangements, finance and computer database management. They also include handling of all Club business matters as necessary throughout the year.
